Our Apartments a Livejournal Blog Review

I searched the web and after navigating to livejournal.com found Our Apartment's featured on the home page.

This growing community which the introduction of the profile points out is aimed at hip young adults just getting on there feet is nothing but plain. A gray background white content box and black text does not suggest a creative owner. The font however, has at least been changed from a default and helps the look. I can stand behind a minimalist design but it should really be pumped up if only a bit. One positive is that the text is very easy to read black and white are the original contrast pair and its hard to go wrong there.

First I would suggest a header for the blog, one that shows perhaps hip rooms in a modern apartment or loft. The pictures could be faded to keep with the simple theme. I'd also suggest a stripe of color maybe blue to match the links or a rainbow going once across the backround. These small additions would make the blog more visually appealing and perhaps then more popular.

The content is on base with the subject matter. In a public blog like this there is really no way to make the posts uniform. If the example pictures were all the same or nearly the same size it would look great. The subject is interesting and therefore the posts are fun to read written mostly by the target audience. As mentioned before almost all posts contain a photo, which engages the reader.

Overall it is a worthwhile place to stop by if you fit the bill. My only gripes are graphical (or lack there of)
